What is Aluminum Nitrate?
Aluminum nitrate is a chemical compound, the aluminum salt of nitric acid.
It forms colorless and deliquescent diamond-shaped crystals. Aluminum nitrate is very soluble in water; the solution is acidic. On crystallization from aqueous solutions, the nonahydrate Al (NO3) 3 9 H2O is formed. When heated, the hydrate releases the water of crystallization at 73 ° C. The salt has no melting point and decomposes from about 150 ° C.
The fabric was previously used to make cloaks. Nitrate is used as an extractant for uranium in the manufacture of fuel rods. Aluminum nitrate is also used as a stain in dyeing and leather tanning.
