Il composto chimico acido nitrico (HNO3) è un liquido corrosivo che può causare gravi ustioni agli esseri viventi. Viene utilizzato come reagente di laboratorio e per la produzione di fertilizzanti. Ha ulteriori applicazioni nella metallurgia e nella raffinazione, poiché reagisce con la maggior parte dei metalli e nella sintesi chimica. Quando miscelato con acido cloridrico, forma l'acqua regia, un raro reagente in grado di sciogliere l'oro e il platino. L'acido nitrico è anche un componente delle piogge acide.

Applicazioni

-Nella produzione di fertilizzanti. Il nitrosolfato di ammonio è un semplice fertilizzante azotato ottenuto chimicamente dalla reazione degli acidi nitrico e solforico con l'ammoniaca.
L'acido nitrico è utilizzato in alcuni casi nel processo di passivazione.
L'acido nitrico è utilizzato nelle incisioni artistiche (acquaforte), è utilizzato anche per controllare l'oro e il platino.
-Nell'industria elettronica è utilizzato nella produzione di circuiti stampati (PCB).
-Nell'industria farmaceutica è utilizzato come agente separatore per composti fortemente basici in mezzi organici.

What Safety Precautions Should I Take Before Using Chemicals?

It is always wise to work as safely as possible when working with chemicals. Even substances that do not seem dangerous at first can cause enormous damage if they get into your eyes. Therefore, always wear safety goggles. You also want to prevent chemicals from ending up on your skin, which is why it is important to always use good gloves or disposable gloves.

It is also useful to be able to clean up spills of aggressive chemicals immediately with absorbents and to dispose of them in accordance with international and/or local legislation.
